How to read TVG Harness Full Past Performance Programs

TVG Full Past Performance Programs provide a wealth of information on a horse's last 10 races, including detailed driver/trainer statistics, post position statistics, program information, and multiple earnings categories. TVG Full Past Performance Programs contain all the information the sophisticated racing fan needs, including TrackMaster Speed Figures and Class Ratings.

Speed Ratings
Speed ratings (SR) tell you how fast a horse has been running in its recent races. It is based on the horse's actual time and other factors, such as the condition of the track.

A horse who races in top class races might earn a SR of 100 for a good performance; a $10,000 claimer might earn a 60 for an average performance.

Like the class rating, the speed rating is weighted for different tracks, distances and conditions. A horse that runs consistently in the 80s at one track should be competitive with horses that run in the 80s at another track. You can spot horses that have run higher numbers and higher classes and especially horses that have done their best work at today's distance and on today's surface.

Class Ratings
Class Ratings
TrackMaster /PPs assigns a class rating (CR) to today's races and all races in which today's starters have raced.

A top class (stakes) race might have a class rating of 100; a $10,000 claiming race might have a CR of 70. By comparing the CR of today's race and the CRs for each horse's recent races you will know if the horse is moving up or down in class - that is, if he is in an easier or more difficult race than he has been in recently.

The calculation of class rating includes a weight for the track so you can compare class ratings between races at different tracks. An 80 at The Meadowlands is equivalent to an 80 at Pompano Park and an 80 at Balmoral. A horse that has been successful in races with a CR of 90 at Yonkers should be competitive in a race with a CR of 90 at The Meadowlands.

Driver/Trainer Statistics
Win, Place, Show and in the money percentage, and return on investment for driver and trainer, plus the Universal Driver Rating.

Post Position Statistics
The Win Index for each post position is included. A valuable handicapping statistic which represents the PERCENT above the expected win percentage. For example, if the 1st post is "supposed" to win 10% of the races, and it wins 13% of the time, the index will be +30. If that position wins 5% of the time the index would be -50.

Program Information
Official program number, post position, morning line odds, exotic wagers, etc.
